DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
|
|
- Keep abreast with all developments in the activity to prepare appropriate briefings and reports relating to the ETM Operation.
- Assist the office in consolidating and analysing data on programme implementation and indicators in all sectors within area of responsibility in order to facilitate the preparation of periodic reports, i.e. Sitreps, Operational Updates, Monthly reports and Briefing kits activity-specific reports as may be required. - Meet and brief visitors on all UNHCR activities, where necessary together with appropriate specialist/ programme officers; - Serves as the focal point for maintaining the data management system for all reporting, including reporting formats and database. - Liaises with internal (Branch Office and other offices) and external entities on internal and external related Information and Communications, for online and press related issues, regarding the ETM Operation. - Undertakes data collection and analysis to produce narrative and statistical reports, on all aspects of the ETM Operation and the Field Office. - Assist the implementation of a communications strategy that generates support for UNHCR¿s operations from external partners (e.g. the general public, governments, partners, media, academia, NGOs, private sector and persons of concern); - Draft press reports, booklets, etc. - Assist in the dialogue with donors and embassies and provide relevant information on UNHCR operations and financial requirements by organizing regular briefings, bilateral meetings and missions and responding to Branch Office requests for information on ad hoc basis. - Assist in the coordination of the drafting of, situation reports, briefing notes, background material, talking points, fact sheets, press releases and articles. - Participate on behalf of the Head of Field Office and other supervisors in inter-agency cooperation and communication strategies, initiatives and tools. - Regularly provide ideas for communications initiatives and considered professional communications advice to senior staff of UNHCR. - Organize missions to the field and press briefings for external parties as required. - Implement all aspects of a communications strategy. - Represent UNHCR HoFO Nyamata on in inter-agency initiatives and fora. - Perform other related duties as required. Additional duties for news and media roles: - Research, prepare, fact-check, edit and produce professional media and communications materials for target audiences and ensure their timely dissemination via UNHCR's communications channels, ensuring highest quality standards. Desirable Qualifications & Competencies - The candidate should have full proficiency, written and oral and excellent reporting skills in English language along with the ability to analyse large amount of data and information to condense it into meaningful and articulate reports, also with proven relevant experience on same/similar positions. His/her work would entail following on the reporting provided by relevant Sections/Units within the SMS service which would have to be consolidated for presentation to senior management of the SMS/DESS and external counterparts, as required. It will be considered as an asset if the candidate would have proven experience in business analysis area including the advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point and other software used for data analysis and reporting. OPERATIONAL CONTEXT
|
|
Direct supervision is normally exercised by Head of Field Office Nyamata who provides guidance on the applicable procedures. Advice may also be provided by relevant functional units at Branch Office, Regional Office and/or HQ. External contacts are with a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including inter alia, government, media, embassies, donors, UN agencies, NGOs and other national and international organizations, as well as general public on matters of importance to the Organization.
